Interview Questions
Most Interviewers will view your questions as evidence that you have made an effort and it will create a great impression. It will show that you are conscientious, enthusiastic and motivated. It is unwise to have no questions at all as this makes you appear passive, rather than curious and interested. Researching the company and the vacancy you are applying for will provide you with some appropriate questions.
It is generally unwise to ask about pay, benefits or other similar areas at this stage. Your consultant will provide these details in your interview information pack so you can view them before your meeting.
SOME TYPICAL QUESTIONS TO ASK THE INTERVIEWER
- How has the position arisen in the company?
- Where will I fit into the organisation?
- Who will I report to? Who will report to me?
- What interaction would I have with people outside the department?
- What are the main duties, responsibilities and objectives for this position?
- How does the company expect these objectives to be met?
- What obstacles would commonly be encountered in reaching these objectives?
- What is the desired timescales for reaching these objectives?
- What measures will be in place to monitor my performance?
- What opportunities are there for progression within the company?
- What is the company's attitude towards educational and professional advancement?
- What are the plans for the company's future?
- How will these plans impact on me?
- Who are the company's major customers?

- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- Give me some examples of how you adapt your own communicating style when dealing with different people and situations?
- Give me an example of when you took initiative in solving a problem?
- What motivates you? Where do you want to be in 2/5/10 years time?
