Hours & Holidays

HOURS

Legally you cannot be made to work more than 48 hours per week (average over 17 weeks) unless you agree otherwise in writing. In your contract there is a section in which you can let us know should you wish to exempt yourself from the 48 hour limit. You may change this decision at a later date as long as you inform us in writing.

HOLIDAY ENTILEMENT

The Working Times Regulations state that all contract staff should receive paid holiday entitlement. You will start to accrue holiday pay from the very first hour you work through Davis Green. The regulations also states that companies must declare a ‘holiday year' in which the entitlement to 4 weeks holiday is earned. Davis Green's holiday year is January to December.
Time accrued in this period must be taken as holiday within this period – holiday entitlement cannot be carried over into the next holiday year; this is a condition constrained within the Working Time Regulations.

ACCURED HOLIDAY PAY

Anyone working on a temporary basis is entitled to 4 weeks paid holiday per holiday year but because not all contracts last for 12 months, and you may be contracted by us to several companies during the year, we accrue time and money based on the hours you work. If you work continuously for 48 weeks of the year and work a full week (excluding bank holidays) for each of those 48 weeks, you are entitled to take the remaining 4 weeks off as holiday and be paid appropriately (though you can take the time as soon as you have accrued enough; you do not have to wait until the end of the year.)

CLAIMING ACCURED HOLIDAY PAY

As you work, your entitlement to holiday hours increases. Davis Green's payroll department keeps a record of this holiday entitlement. When you take a holiday, you will be paid from this holiday entitlement, which your consultant will arrange for you at your request. We can let you know at any time exactly how much holiday entitlement you are due – simply phone or email your consultant.

ACCRUAL OF TIME

For every standard hour that you work, we will accrue your holiday entitlement. This is worked out on the following basis:

Number of weeks worked x 20 day's holiday per year / 48 available work weeks per year.

CHANGING JOBS

If your next contract is through Davis Green your holiday accrual will be continuous. If not, payment for any outstanding holiday entitlement will be paid to you. This forms part of our normal leaver's procedure, and includes the issue of your P45.

UNPLANNED ABSENCES

If you are unable to attend work for any reason, you must inform your consultant as soon as possible and by no later than 9.00am on each day of absence to enable alternative arrangements to be made.

Please note that we take a very serious view of unauthorised absence and this may lead to us terminating your contract without notice.

When you are informed of your assignment, you will be told what time you are required to report to work. You are expected to make all reasonable efforts to be punctual.

Consistent lateness has a negative effect on our relationship with our clients, and could result in your contract being terminated, possibly without notice.
