Davis Green in the Community

Throughout the year, Davis Green participates in a variety of local fundraising initiatives as well as supporting a nominated charity of the year.

Make-a-wish foundation uk

Davis Green is supporting Make-A-Wish as its charity of choice for 2009.

Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. Make-A-Wish was founded in the UK in June 1986 and, since then, has granted over 4,800 wishes.

At any given time, over 20,000 children in the UK are living with life-threatening conditions and the charity’s aim is to grant 21 wishes a week by the year 2010. Whether a wish is to be a princess or a policeman for a day, own the latest computer equipment, meet a favourite celebrity or just enjoy some special time away from home with their family, a wish come true brings so much to a child's life and provides memories for the family that last a lifetime.

The cost of a wish ranges from a few hundred to many thousands of pounds as each wish is uniquely built around the individual child and their preferences and circumstances. Make-A-Wish receives no government or lottery support and is completely reliant on voluntary support to fund their work.

Davis Green is committed to supporting the local community and recognises the valuable opportunity that Make-A-Wish offers to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses in the Swindon and Bristol area.

The Make-A-Wish South West office, based in Bristol, currently has 21 children waiting for their wishes to be granted. The wishes range from owning a PS3 to wanting to go to Disneyland. Davis Green will be supporting Make-A-Wish through a variety of fundraising activities, including dress down days, sponsored activities and social events.

You can join us in supporting Make-A-Wish by making a donation online.

BADCASS TREASURE HUNT - SUMMER 2007

This year Davis Green collaborated with BADCASS to organise a treasure hunt for studying accountants from a variety of firms in and around Bristol . A group of 15 accountants met with four Davis Green consultants to commence the hunt around Clifton village. With pit –stops at local pubs scheduled along the trail, teams of four scattered to complete the quiz and to collect a number of items or ‘treasure' on their way. The questions ranged from the blinding obvious to some more tricky requiring expert detective work.

Some more successful than others, the teams completed the trail and re-grouped in the Clifton Wine Bar, where the winning team was presented with a bottle of Champagne to reward their efforts. All participants, accountants and consultants, thoroughly enjoyed this day of many laughs and good conversation, and agreed that the event should be repeated next year.

ROTARY CLUB GOLF NIGHT - 9TH MARCH

The Rotary Club of Somer Valley held a fundraising Golf Night on 9 March to raise funds for the Rotary charity fund, which supports local charities in the Bath area as well as national and international disaster relief projects.

The Rotary Club supports a number of local schools by sponsoring pupils on exchange visits, residential opportunities for developing confidence and interpersonal skills and the annual ‘Kids Day Out' to Longleat for younger pupils who do not have family holidays. Vision Bath , a local charity offering a wide range of services to anyone with sight loss in the Bath and North East Somerset area, is also supported by Somer Valley Rotary Club. The Golf Night was an opportunity to raise awareness of these projects and raise much-needed funds to continue its support.

“Thank you to the six Davis Green consultants who took part in our charity golf night, which raised £1667. It will be an annual event, so we hope to see you again next year.”
Wendy Simmons, Rotary Club member and member of the fund raising committee which organised the Golf Night event.
